Director's Desk

One month from today we will hold our Gala 25th anniversary celebration.  Recently we received word that the founder of TIS and president of QSI would make the trip to celebrate this important day with us in Tirana.  The evening will be filled with friends, great food, dancing and a birthday cake for TIS!  If you plan to attend, then we want to remind you that tickets are on sale until Friday, April 7.  When purchasing tickets, please let us know your meal selection and if you have a preference on seating.

Looking Forward,

Robert S. Jackson

12 Poetry

The 12 year old class is studying poetry in Language Arts. In analyzing a wide variety of poems, they identify poetic devices and evaluate their literary impact. Students are challenged to determine the figurative and connotative meanings within poetry. Taking inspiration from mentor poems in Literature class, students compose original poetry in Writing class.

TIS Choir

The 10 year old class will join with other choirs from around the city on March 23rd to perform a concert at TIS at 6:00 pm.  This joint choir is a first time project for our wonderful music teacher Jenny Wheelis.  See you at the concert!

New Information Book

We would like to inform you that the new Information Packet for school year 2017-2018 has been finalized. Please write to the office for your digital copy.

In there you will find more information regarding most common questions.  Also we have very good news for parents that have children in our preschool program as the price has been reduced by 25%. Please read the brochure to find out more details.

Yearbook Update

The work on the school yearbook is progressing. Media and Publication students have already put together classroom and some activity pages and are currently discussing ideas on cover and other decorative elements. Through this assignment they have been learning not only how a publication is produced in terms of technical aspects, photography and writing, but that it also requires good team work, which can be challenging at times.

Secondary Play

Congratulations to the secondary drama class on their successful performance of Arsenic and Old Lace.  For those that missed it, DVDs will go on sale in a couple of weeks.

Spring Soccer

The Tirana Youth Sports Program (TYSP) will start the spring season of soccer from March 18 to May 6.  For 7 consecutive Saturdays children will learn both team play and individual skills development. Through skills and drills we work to progress the full range of soccer techniques including dribbling and passing with different surfaces of the foot, receiving the ball on the ground and in the air, and shooting techniques as well as how to react quickly to various game-like situations. They will also have the opportunity to apply all the knowledge acquired by playing a soccer match. Register here.

This week the preschoolers are learning about spring.  We will start planting in the garden and practice maintaining the soil and weeds. In connection to spring, we are beginning to introduce about the growth of plants and trees and how that correlates to their growth as children.

French Fruit

The Five and Six years old have been learning about fruits in French class. Students enjoyed learning the names of the fruits through different activities like: coloring, drawing the favorite fruit, making fruit masks, etc. They learned a new song “J’aime les fruits” (I love fruits).  At the end of the unit we partied with real fruits, dancing and singing a new song.
